MAP 2009, Gull Lake Ministries

Our MAP 2009 Summer Missions trip will be at Gull Lake Ministries this summer, from August 8 through August 14th.

We will be enjoying Gull Lake Ministries for a portion of the time (swimming, rock climbing, etc.) but the bulk of our time will be spent working (Monday through Thursday, 9-5pm) around their campus on various housing maintenance projects (deep cleaning, light roofing, gardening, moving, etc.).  The cost of this portion of the trip will be $130 which covers housing, food and t-shirt!  This will be the main part of our 2009 trip.    Register for MAP 2009

If you attend the Gull Lake portion of our trip you may choose to accompany us on our MAP 2009 Chicago Tour, Saturday August 15th through 16th.  We will leave at 8am on the 15th, drive part way, take a train the rest, into the heart of Chicago for a trip to Shedd Aquarium, Navy Pier, shopping, night at a hotel overlooking the Chicago river, a stop at Moody Bible Institute, and Water Tower Pace.  This portion of the trip will cost $105 (which includes food, hotel, train, Shedd Aquarium tickets, and more).  Both trips spelled out in more detail below.


MAP 2009, Gull Lake Ministries
August 8-14, 2009,
Cost $130

Students will be dropped off at GLM at 3pm on Saturday, August 8th and we will be considered campers at Gull Lake from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.  On Monday morning we will not follow the regular programming but be working from 9-5pm with the GLM staff on projects throughout the camp.  We will be finished with our project at 10am on Friday morning August 14th, and may be picked up at that time.

We will have a great time with each other, and others we meet, and serve the Lord by serving his people here at this local family camp that has been so influential in the lives of many generations.

Young men will be housed in Colossians and young women will be housed in Romans.





Costs include:
  • All Dinner Package at GLM dining room
  • Housing in Air Conditioned Cottages (6 nights)
  • GLM Programming (some freetime which includes beach, boating, rock climbing, zip line, etc., pop 3, etc.)
  • Breakfasts and Lunches in cottages







MAP 2009, Chicago Tour
August 15-16, 2009,
Cost $82 plus $25 food costs

The very next day we will embark on our Chicago tour.  Since we are staying so close to home, many of the students wanted to have a trip involved, so here it is!  Note: You need to go to MAP 2009, Gull Lake Ministries in order to be eligible to attend this trip.

We will leave from SSBC Parking Lot by 8am on Saturday August 15th, and drive from there down to Michigan City, Indiana.  From there we will take a train to the heart of downtown Chicago!  We will get off the train right near the lakeshore a block or two from Shedd Aquarium where we will spend a few hours touring that world class museum.  After this we will catch a CTA bus uptown to Navy Pier, a famous Chicago shopping site and have dinner there before taking another CTA bus about a mile west to our hotel at Holiday Inn Mart (right on the Chicago river).  We'll spend the night there, and the next day we will enjoy a walking tour including Moody Bible Instititue, wonderful Chicago landmarks, Water Tower Place, the Water Tower, and the sights and sounds of Michigan Avenue.

Costs include:
  • Train in and out of the city (1.5 hour ride)
  • Public transportation
  • Hotel (4 persons per room)
  • Shedd Aquarium Pass
  • Bring an addtional $25 for snacks, two dinners and one lunch (breakfast at hotel complimentary)
